iPad vs Netbook – The chart
7
Netbook sales have been notably decreasing over the year compared to 2009. Many people speculate the Apple iPad may have been dragging the netbook down. Are iPads better than Netbooks? I compared a 64GB iPad with Wifi with $50 worth of apps and media, and an Asus Eee 1005HA Seashell that has a Windows 7 Home Premium upgrade installed over Windows XP.
I think there is a clear winner here, the Asus Eee 1005HA Seashell. If you had enough money to buy a 64GB iPad but you got a netbook with an SSD instead, you would still have a good $100 to spare (this chart assumes an iPad owner would spend $50 on apps and media) on apps and media.
So if you’re still debating “iPad vs netbook”, I think your best bet is to buy a standard $400 netbook online or at a retail store. If you really want a touchscreen, you can consider buying a touchscreen netbook, many which support multitouch.

If you compared with T101MT, it would have made much more sense and been a better comparison.
The reason I didn’t compare it with a tablet netbook is because most people who are debating iPad vs Netbook aren’t really considering the idea of having the netbook have a touchscreen as well. Some people don’t even know tablet netbooks exist.
Updated the chart to balance out the whole SSD vs Hard Drive debacle.
Also, fixed it so it wasn’t stretched. That was weird. Changed my math, too.
I feel that your theming argument above is weak. Jailbreaking and modifying DLLs are both “hacks”, and can both cause permanent system damage. Saying that one is “easier” than the other is purely subjective.
If you JUST want to use custom themes, Jailbreaking modifies more files than you need to – it shuts down a lot of the iPad’s defenses for 3rd party programs. However, the application Winterboard (an iPad theme manager) doesn’t need to get around every defense that jailbreaking shuts down. Jailbreaking punches holes in places you don’t need holes.
If you want to use custom Windows themes, you only punch the holes necessary, which is notably simpler and has less of a chance of causing permanent system damage.
Asus FTW (For The Win)!!!
iPad is new technology… kinda. It’ll take time until it fixes all its problems. :/
