Tiny but cute, the Eee Portable Hard Drive

6

Asus has tried many different products with the Eee line that weren’t just netbooks, from keyboards to tablets. Now, the netbook maker is unveiling a new product for the Eee line, the new Eee Portable Hard Drive. It’s 1.8 inches in size, and has 30 gb of memory to work with. No official announcement was made, but the Eee Portable Hard Drive popped up on Asus’ Taiwanese site. It appeals to people who want to have extra storage space for things like backups and media, but don’t want to haul around a large hard drive on the go.

The Eee branded HDD has the Eee logo stamped on the lower right and is priced at $31. The Eee HDD features a foldable USB port that points out from the back of the drive. More storage is always nice to have around, and the 1.8 inch size is just about the size of a large flash drive these days. An official announcement has yet to be announced by Asus.

    Very cool. I already have a bunch of external hard drives, though.

    ADMIT IT, THE ACER LINE IS FAR SUPERIOR TO THE EEE LINE

    Except Asus is basically the father of netbooks.

    31GB = $30 I see… I have a 600GB portable eternal hard drive, so I won’t be needing this. It’s a Seagate one; I like Seagate since it’s so easy to set things up. :P

    Brian, I have a question. My friend is thinking of getting an Asus EEE netbook. But then another store is selling a Lenovo Thinkpad netbook. They say Lenovo and Asus is very evenly matched. What’s your opinion?

    Any technical specs on on which netbooks your friend is debating on? If he has the money, the Asus Eee 1215N is probably the most powerful netbook available right now:

    1.8Ghz and ION2, a 12 inch screen, USB 3.0 (I think, it was in a video).

    Bingo! Thanks Brian…
