Tips and Tricks for Windows 7 Sticky Notes

0

New in Windows 7 are Sticky Notes – a simple way to keep reminders and notes right on your desktop. As soon as you launch Sticky Notes, you’re given the abilities to enter text in a sticky note, create a new sticky note, change the color of a sticky note, resize a sticky note, and delete a sticky note. It turns out however that the sticky notes indeed support some formatting features, such as bold or italicized text. Here’s a list of how to format text in sticky notes to your liking.

These keyboard shortcuts can be used with or without text selected, similar to the formatting bar in Word.

Basic text formatting:

  • If you want bold text, press Ctrl+B
  • For italicized text, press Ctrl+I
  • To underline text, press Ctrl+U
  • For strikethrough text, pressĀ Ctrl+T

Text resizing:

  • To increase the font size, press Ctrl+Shift+>
  • To decrease the font size, press Ctrl+Shift+<

Aligning text:

  • If you want to align text to the left, press Ctrl+L
  • If you want to center text, press Ctrl+E
  • If you want to align text to the right, press Ctrl+R

Other:

  • In order to single space a paragraph, press Ctrl+1
  • To double space a paragraph, press Ctrl+2
  • For 1.5 line spacing, press Ctrl+5
  • If you want to create a bulleted list, press Ctrl+Shift+L

If you want to change the font, you can copy and paste text from another program in order application such as Word and the font will be carried over to the sticky note. Unfortunately, there is no simple way to change the default font, which is Segoe Print. If you delete the font from your system, Sticky Notes will use MS Sans Serif instead.
