Password Protect folders with Secure Folder

Secure Folder Main

Encryption tools like TrueCrypt and BitLocker have been around for quite a while, and are excellent drive encryption solutions. However, they definitely take a while to set up, and sometimes can be a little complicated as well – not exactly good for new users or folks who want to encrypt folders on-the-go. Secure Folder aims to be a lightweight, easy solution for those who just want to slap a password on a few folders.

Secure Folder is a freeware application that uses AES encryption to secure and hide folders with a password attached. With a clean, easy to use interface and Windows Explorer integration, Secure Folder is an excellent tool for those who don’t need to encrypt entire drives or need military-strength security, but just want to have the ability to password protect a folder every now and then.

Secure Folder features the ability to protect as many folders as you want, encrypting all the files inside (except for files above 100MB). Locked folders aren’t part of the program, either – uninstalling Secure Folder means the folder is still locked. You’ll need to have the program installed if you want to unlock it later.

Working on all versions of Windows and supporting an automatic updater, Secure Folder is a tool you can’t miss. Head over to the homepage for download links and more information.

Huh. I didn’t know Windows natively supported folder locking, Secure Folder was the first tool to do the job I had come across.
