The product key that activated Windows and/or Office on your computer is something that you likely don’t remember. In the case of a system crash and you need to completely reinstall Windows and/or Office, having your product keys on hand can save you a couple hundred bucks by not having to buy another copy. ProduKey is a free and easy-to-use application for recovering Windows and/or Office product keys, which can’t easily be found without the help of an external application.

Using ProduKey, finding the product keys for Office and Windows is easy – run the application and it will scan your Windows directory and display whatever keys it can find. ProduKey supports just about all editions of Office and Windows. For netbooks and other systems with Windows preinstalled, chances are the product key is an OEM edition – which means you can use it as many times as you want, as long as it’s for your netbook.

ProduKey can do more than just that however, and can even pull product keys from other (and possibly broken) Windows installations. Suppose you have a broken copy of Windows that you need to extract keys from – simply point ProduKey towards the broken Windows installation and ProduKey will grab what it can.

It’s always good to have a list of all your Windows and/or Office product keys available offline if your system fails and a full reinstallation is necessary. Even with the ProduKey’s ability to extract keys from broken Windows installations, you may not be able to run ProduKey or copy over the proper files if Windows won’t work.
