Spoof your Windows Experience Index and have a Supercomputer
3Introduced in Windows Vista, the Windows Experience Index is basically a low-end computer benchmark and provides a general view on how good a computer is in terms of processing power, disk transfer rate, and more. Your computer’s score can range from 1.0 to 7.9, and the final rating is determined by the lowest subscore. Want to check your WEI? Hit the Start Orb and search for “Performance Information and Tools“. For netbook owners, though, you’ll probably get a pretty low score – netbooks don’t exactly pack that much processing power. Instead, here’s how to spoof your score to have your very own supercomputer.
- Open Notepad with Administrative rights by right clicking on its shortcut and hitting “Run as Administrator”.
- Hit File>Open and navigate to your Windows folder (typically on the C:\ drive). Then, go to Performance\WinSAT\DataStore.
- Sort by Date modified and look for the latest file that has “Formal.Assessment” in its name. Open it up.
- Look for:
<WinSPR>
<SystemScore>x.x</SystemScore>
<MemoryScore>x.x</MemoryScore>
<CpuScore>x.x</CpuScore>
<CPUSubAggScore>x.x</CPUSubAggScore>
<VideoEncodeScore>x.x</VideoEncodeScore>
<GraphicsScore>x.x</GraphicsScore>
<Dx9SubScore>x.x</Dx9SubScore>
<Dx10SubScore>x.x</Dx10SubScore>
<GamingScore>x.x</GamingScore>
<DiskScore>x.x</DiskScore>
</WinSPR> - Replace the current values (x.x in the bit above) with whatever values you want (must be in x.x format).
- Save and enjoy your supercomputer.
Although the maximum score shown in the Control Panel is 7.9, you can actually tick it up to 9.9.

my sisters new laptop is 5.0
Nice.
It seems that the base score is usually derived from graphics performance – my PC has a 5.4, but everything else is pretty high (6-7).
yeah everything else it high she even has a 7.8 or 7.9 on one score its the graphics of windows that is 5.0 its something to do with the aero graphics
